National Dance Like A Chicken Day falls on May 14th every year.
It’s one of those strange holidays where you get to do something you wouldn’t usually do, no matter how weird it may seem!
While this fun holiday is celebrated worldwide, it’s unknown where or when this special day originated.
So what is Dance Like A Chicken Day? How is it celebrated across the world? And how exactly do you dance like a chicken?
That’s what we’re here to find out!
What song do you dance to?
Well, that would be The Chicken Dance song!
The song was written in the 1950s by Werner Thomas, although it didn’t make it to the United States until sometime in the 1970s.
It was originally written with the Swedish name Der Ententanz – meaning “The Duck Dance,” and was written as a drinking song for Oktoberfest.
The song’s name was later changed to Vogeltanz – “The Bird Dance.”
The Chicken Dance became its name once it reached the U.S., and the dance to go along with it was born!
How do you celebrate this special day?
Well, there’s only really one way, and if you hadn’t guessed it by now… you dance like a chicken!
Okay, there’s more than one way you can celebrate these days. Why not share this article and use #DanceLikeAChickenDay on social media to spread the word!
Let’s face it, the name of the day explains perfectly well how you celebrate, and of course, you don’t just dance without any music, it has to be The Chicken Dance song, also known as the Birdie Song.
You’ve all heard the song, you’ve likely heard it at a wedding, but today is the day to listen to it again – over and over again!
