His full name is Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore.
Dumbledore was born in late July or August 1881. While J.K. Rowling never gave his exact date of birth, she confirmed that his star sign is Leo, meaning he must have been born between July 23 and August 22.
He is the oldest child of Percival and Kendra Dumbledore and has two younger siblings, Aberforth and Ariana.
Dumbledore is actually a half-blood. While both of his parents are magical, his mom is muggle-born.
His first name, Albus, has Latin origins and means white, just like his beard, but that’s not why Rowling chose the name. Instead, she was inspired by the white phase, a crucial part of alchemy.
Dumbledore has a unique connection to phoenixes, and it’s not just because of his beloved pet, Fawkes; his Patronus is also a phoenix!
He founded and led the Order of the Phoenix, a secret organization that fought against Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters during the First Wizarding War.

Dumbledore’s character, like most modern fantasy wizard characters, was inspired by Merlin. They’re both super powerful and have long white beards.
He’s the only wizard besides Harry to have held all three Deathly Hallows: the Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone, and the Invisibility Cloak.

Dumbledore has a soft spot for the vulnerable and often goes the extra mile to protect them, as he did with Sybill Trelawney, the Divination professor. Her prophecy of Voldemort’s defeat made her a target, so Dumbledore kept her close.
He invented the Deluminator, a small device for turning off lights. However, it’s believed he might have made it for a different purpose, perhaps to teleport to people who needed him.

Four actors played Dumbledore in the original movies and the Fantastic Beasts spin-offs. Richard Harris was Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter movies, and upon his passing, Michael Gambon was given the role. In Fantastic Beasts, Toby Regbo and Jude Law portrayed the character.
When Richard Harris was first contacted to play Dumbledore, he turned it down. But he finally gave in after his granddaughter threatened to never speak to him again.
