Bob’s Burgers tells the story of Bob, his wife Linda, and their three children, Tina, Gene, and Louise. They run a burger restaurant in the fictional town of Seymour’s Bay, New Jersey.

Loren Bouchard, creator of the show, said Bob hails from French or French-Canadian heritage because of the family surname Belcher. He based the character on his own heritage.

The original idea for the show was centered around a family of cannibals. However, Fox Broadcasting Company didn’t like this idea, so the writers changed it.

There is a new business next to Bob’s burger restaurant in every episode. When watching the opening credits, eagle-eyed fans will spot a different name on the storefront each time.

Millions of people tune in to watch Bob’s Burgers, with the first season attracting almost five million viewers.

The TV show has been nominated for more than 100 awards and has been successful 19 times. For example, in 2017, Bob’s Burgers won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program for the episode “Bob, Actually.”

Bob’s wife, Linda, is voiced by John Roberts, who based the character on his mother, Marge. In an interview, he said Linda has the voice, swagger, and attitude of his mom.

More than 20 people have been credited with writing episodes of the show, including creator Loren Bouchard and voice actors H. Jon Benjamin (Bob) and Dan Mintz (Tina).

A movie based on the show, The Bob’s Burger Movie, was released in 2022. Unfortunately for everyone involved, while it was well-reviewed, it underperformed in cinemas due to it feeling like an extended episode.

Louise, the youngest Belcher daughter, is known for wearing pink bunny ears wherever she goes. It was finally revealed in the Bob’s Burger Movie that she began wearing them during preschool.

In 2013, to mark TV Guide Magazine‘s 60th anniversary, Bob’s Burgers was listed as one of the 60 greatest cartoons ever.

H. Jon Benjamin, who voices the character Bob, said he is very disorganized and does not even read the scripts before recording. He puts this down to his laziness rather than lack of time.

The second season of Bob’s Burgers was so popular that the film review website “Rotten Tomatoes” rated it 100%.

The Bob’s Burgers Comic Book was launched on August 27, 2014. The first issue was republished in May 2015 in honor of Free Comic Book Day.

Tina was initially conceived as a 13-year-old boy named Daniel. Despite the character’s transformation into Tina, creator Loren Bouchard decided to keep Dan Mintz, a male voice actor, on for the part.

The “Burger of the Day” specials on Bob’s menu are known for their puns, such as the “Peas and Thank You Burger.” It’s impressive, really, that they’ve come up with a burger pun for nearly every single episode!

During the fourth season, Bob gets a tattoo on his lower back depicting his own nose and mustache, making him one of the few characters with a tattoo!

The show has an official cookbook, The Bob’s Burgers Burger Book: Real Recipes for Joke Burgers. Published in March 2016, it was a collaboration between Loren Bouchard and Bob’s Burgers superfan Cole Bowden.

Viewers learn in the first episode of Bob’s Burgers that Tina is autistic. Critics have overall applauded the show’s depiction of autism as it’s a more positive and authentic form than what we typically see on TV.

In 2017, The Bob’s Burgers Music Album was released. It included original songs from the first six seasons and reached #21 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Bob’s Burgers has crossed over with the sitcom Archer, as H. Jon Benjamin provides the distinct voice for the main characters of both shows. In a comical turn of events in Season 4 of Archer, the title character marries Linda Belcher of Bob’s Burgers.

In 2016, Los Angeles’ Chinatown was home to a Bob’s Burgers-themed pop-up restaurant and art gallery. Fans could buy pieces of art for $75-$600 and enjoy a pun-tastic burger for $15.

In January 2011, to mark the premiere of Bob’s Burgers, “Fatburger” restaurants in Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, and New Jersey were temporarily rebranded as Bob’s Burgers restaurants and gave out free burgers.

In 2018, Bob’s Burgers took over restaurants in Atlanta and St. Louis to celebrate the show’s 150th episode, giving out free burgers and merch.

While voice actors usually record their lines separately, the cast of Bob’s Burgers works together. Unless someone is not available, they record their lines as a group.

Bob has featured alongside Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin multiple times in the TV show Family Guy in both 2014 and 2023. The 2023 Family Guy episode featured the trio dining in Bob’s restaurant during the cold open.

Louise’s school friends, Andy and Ollie Pesto, are voiced by real-life sisters Laura and Sarah Silverman.

To raise awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a video of Tina doing the viral ALS Ice Bucket Challenge was released in 2014.

The background illustrations within Bob’s Burgers are created by Sirron Norris. He joined the show after creator Loren Bouchard spotted his mural artwork in San Francisco.

Two of the show’s writers, Jon Schroeder and Nora Smith, are married. On their wedding day, the show’s production company, Bento Box, shared a photo of a menu showing “The Nor-Apple Di-Jon Wedding Burger” as Bob’s Burger of the Day.

Based on comparisons with real-life restaurants, fans have estimated that the monthly rental cost for the Belcher’s restaurant and apartment would be $3,924. This means Bob would need to sell 785 burgers per month just to break even!
