Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the sixth chapter of the Call of Duty series and the sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, where it continues along with the same storyline.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (often shorted to CoD MW2, or just MW2) is an FPS video game that was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC.

The game was officially announced on February 11, 2009, and later released worldwide on November 10th that year

It was released at the same time as two other Call of Duty games: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized for the Nintendo DS and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex, for the Nintendo Wii.

Also, there was a comic book series released which was based on Ghost – one of the game’s characters, which was called Modern Warfare 2: Ghost.

MW2 Sales

Approximately 4.7 million copies of Modern Warfare 2 were sold worldwide in the first 24 hours of its release.

On March 12, 2010, Activision confirmed that the game had sold over 14 million copies worldwide, making it the second best-selling game of all time in the United Kingdom, and the third best-selling game of all time in America.

The total income from first day sales in America and the UK was $310 million (£214 million) which made Modern Warfare 2 the biggest entertainment launch in history!

After five days of sales, the game had earned $550 million (£379 million) worldwide and as of January 18, 2010, it has taken over $1 billion in sales.

DLC

Since its release, there have been two map packs available as downloadable content; the first map pack was released on Xbox Live on March 30, 2010, and for PlayStation Network and PC on May 4, 2010.

It was called the “Stimulus Package” which contained five new maps, two of which were from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare – these were Crash and Overgrown.

The other three maps were called Storm, Bailout, and Salvage.

Within 24 hours of its release, it was downloaded over one million times and within the first week, it had been downloaded 2.5 million times, breaking Xbox Live Downloadable Content records.

The Resurgence Package is the second map pack for MW2; it was available on Xbox 360 on June 3, 2010, and on PS3 and PC on July 3, 2010.

Again, the package included five new multiplayer maps which are Carnival, Trailer Park, and Fuel, with Strike and Vacant being transferred from Call of Duty 4.

Did You Know…

In total there are 174,636 different arrangements of titles and emblems.

The first column of titles available (the camouflaged ones) is out of order. S.S.D.D. should be arctic and Sgt. should be woodland that’s if they followed the same unlock pattern of weapons.

The Italian flag is backward, the colors should go green, white, and red – not red, white, and green.

For the title called “Hard Target”, you don’t need to be falling or jumping, you can simply be on the wing of the plane in Afghan or the fence near all the military vehicles in Invasion.

The starter title FNG stands for “F***ing New Guy”, and the SSDD title stands for “Same S**t, Different Day”.

High on Knife

Finally, a CoD player, called Robotic Willy posted a fake viral video on YouTube explaining how to unlock the Callsign “High on Knife”.

This Callsign was unlocked by being killed by an enemy who threw a Throwing Knife at its highest possible arc.

This video became extremely popular and was so convincing that players actually attempted to unlock the title. The title took the place of “Reversal of Fortune” in the video:

Not everyone found this as amusing as I did though, when viewers found out that it was a fake, their response wasn’t pleasant: “Wow, what a douche bag, this is a crock of sh*t.

That’s not even in the game, and the slot where your “high on knife” was, is actually the call sign for “reversal of fortune”… get a life bro” – Gergzla
